The 2023 Pride Season campaign The Ballroom is Open displayed Marriott International’s commitment to advocating for LGBTQ+ equality and welcoming all through inclusion, belonging and self-expression. As the Senior Event Manager and Lead, it was my role to create meaningful moments & interactions using swag and elevated custom fabricated pieces.
There were a number of ways this was accomplished!
- With the use of a one-of-a-kind, custom-made 75' parade float (I single-handedly led & managed the fabrication process )
- Through engagement of employees who work at Marriott’s headquarters
- Through engagement of influencers, the parade walkers / contingency and other supporters
Custom 75' Parade Float: The 2023 float featured the Pride campaign look & feel, and highlighted the LoveTravel’s philanthropic partners with an LED screen attached to the rear of the float.
Both the float and wrapped tow vehicle was customized via our Creative team. My role as the liaison of the project was to oversee the build and development of the moving parade vehicles (float, tow vehicle and golf cart).
Employee Engagement at Marriott HQ: over 200 employees were engaged, given swag items and pledged their support for the LGBTQ+ community! The set up in the lobby of Marriott HQ in Bethesda, MD was very meaningful and drew in lots of Marriott associates. Premiums given away were sun visors, hats, fanny packs, folding fans, shoelaces, headbands, bandanas, socks, tattoos, t-shirts and tank tops.
Public Engagement at Marriott HQ: over 600 were engaged, provided swag and given the ability to have their make up and hair done on the day of the DC Capital Pride Parade. This set up was located at the Washington Marriott Georgetown for all to enjoy.
